Tyre Dilemma
Took the S out to try the airbox mod and managed to scrub a little more off the tyres than I was expecting.....the end result is that they are down the markers
I've got a set of,literally, scrubbed S02 JZ's maybe done 500 miles tops and I am worried that if I fit these they are going to be ruined after a day on the airfield Sooo are the markers there to warn you they are illegal or to warn you they are 'getting' illegal I can't afford to buy a set of rear tyres and muller them, my pockets just aren't that deep |
Zero - under no circumstances should you change the tyres before the airfield day. I shredded my rears at Heyford (all my own fault I hasten to add - but going THAT sideways was too much fun).
Just be careful for a few more days, and take another car if it rains ;) R. |
what's the fine if you get done?
The fronts have loads of tread left......hardly worn at all |

What's the deal with "markers"??......didn't even realise that we had such a thing to tell us that tread was getting low. Where are they etc?. I'm on my original SO2's with about 12500 miles on the clock......they might be getting a little thin!.

If this happens to you, talk nicely to a nearby fellow owner and borrow their wheels for the day :)

The legal limit I believe is 1.6mm, so if you haven't quite hit the markers, you've got a few miles left, although an airfield/track day stands a fair chance of taking you over the edge. |
in that case I may be lucky.......the problem is that I've always been very heavy on my rear tyres and the fact that I am running 225 S03's is serving to exaggerate my driving style
I can't see them being legal at the end of the airfield day unless I refrain from getting on the power too early....and for me that's the whole point of the day |
