Update to the REO 50 MZ saga.
After my first set of REO 50 turned out to be the asymmetric version (which I didn't order or want) the supplier collected them and reordered MZ only for the Identical asymmetric
version to arrive again.
It would appear to be a manufacturer coding issue according to my supplier and as I expected the MZ is not available in Europe.
( I have been told of one of his customers has had one set from them and three other sets delivered from three different online suppliers only to find them all asymmetric).
Anyway next step is a set of pilot sport 4s.

Pilot Sport 4's
I've been running the above for several months, and was prompted to make this post by a drive the other evening in torrential rain, as the grip seemed superb in those conditions. Grip in the dry also seems good, and the tyres seem noticeably stiffer than the Goodyear Asymmetric 2's I was running before, with no feeling of the sidewalls flexing when power is applied coming out of a bend. The Pilot's are marked "Extra Load", which probably accounts for this additional stiffness.

I’ve not driven the car since to comment, but I’m fairly confident they’ll be nothing other than great. That said, hopefully I won’t lose the playfulness in the wet.

I find the RE002 a better tyre than the RE050A from almost every perspective and I'm pretty sure that same can be said for the S001, so personally I'd stick to the RE002 S001 combo over a return to RE050s regardless of their price, since they're just an older, inferior tyre. The PS4s are well reviewed on the other hand, so while I haven't tried them myself, that's the one alternative I'd consider.

So it's PS4s now.

Just adding a little knowledge (opinion) to the thread:
Have recently changed to Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Massively impressed! Moved on from Hankook Ventus V12s, which were on the wheels when I bought them, and the PS4s are on a different level. Both dry and wet grip has improved dramatically and the car corners much faster and with more feel. Another bonus is that despite being the exact same size as the V12s, my car no longer scrapes when negotiating the speed bumps in the town next to me. Bonus!
Have now switched back to the stock wheels for the winter and these have Bridgestone RE050s. My god, they feel terrible! Just feels like they are pancake flat despite being the same size as the PS4s and at correct inflation. Perhaps the stock wheels being heavier than my BBSs can explain this but I am going to dial a bit more softness into the dampers as the car is rattling about. The aforementioned speed bumps are now taken at an agonisingly slow speed! Grip has gone to pot and I have no confidence cornering at anything approaching speed. Temperatures have dropped quite a bit since putting these on which may partially explain this? And tyre roar is ridiculous! Got me considering winter tyres for the first time...

Nankang Tyres
Anybody tried these on an S2000? A friend recently put the ULTRASPORT NS-2 on his S3 and was saying they do a semi slick SPORTNEX NS-2R too.
Normally i would say never use a budget tyre but he was showing me a bunch of reviews for them and The NS-2R has been the control tyre for race championships such as the English and Scottish Compact Cup, Tegiwa Civic Cup, M3 Cup and MaX5 championship, the NS-2R has proved to be very popular in the pits and amongst driving enthusiasts.
Thoughts?
