I'll have AD08s for track days.
Get some proper track tyres for track days (A048s or R888s etc).

LG, I was going to buy A048s but they're expensive and not good on wet tarmac. It looks like I don't have time for many track days in next summer. Distances in Finland are huge and it's normal to drive 300+ kms one way to the nearest track day available. I don't want to wear the expensive tyres on road. It would be ideal if I transported my trackday wheels+tyres to track somehow. I'll buy A048s or similar next year if I'll have another extra set of wheels. Then it will be easy to choose the desired tyres depending on weather.

Why not put ad08's on your main wheels and forget about the bridgestones?

I've run mixed tyres front and back a couple of times, and had no problems. Last time it was round the other way to what you're suggesting - RE050 MZ on the back and Asymmetric 2 on the front. That seemed fine to me. I think that as long as you are using good quality tyres front and back, you should be OK - it's when you mix good tyres with cheap ones that you have problems.

To be honest the difference in tread depth and age will make more impact than brand and compound. I did like you with my fronts and the combination of new tyres and going 225 up front made a noticeable difference in balance. Now the rears are running low it's even more marked.

Thanks guys. I asked about wheel width on a separate thread earlier today. What kind of difference do the wider front tyres make?

I've not tracked so at road speeds it's subtle. On the 215's on a big roundabout it felt like I was able to reach a good balance with the car, feeling it moving around underneath slightly, modulating throttle and steering. When I switched to the 225's the car felt like it would have more in it up to the point I wouldn't be able to safely judge going faster.

Anyone got any experience of the new fallen 453s seeing as nowhere seems to have 452s in stock anymore

I'm in two minds about trackday tyres. Am I likely to wear out the AD08s much faster than A048s? I'll drive mostly on A or B roads because of long distance to all the tracks.
