Default tyres - s02 Porsche

my S is due for replacement rubber on the rear, and on good word (Chris@CG), he recommended i try the porsche fitment S02 (N3)'s.
at £166/ea from black circles, they seem pricy.

is anyone running them and can testify vs other tyres (RE050's maybe?). lifespan, performance (wet&dry), feel etc..

They put some on mine once, by mistake.

Poorer traction, earlier breakaway, oversteeeery.

Fun, but they'd probably only have lasted me a week.

RE050's if i can source 'em, or do some researching on the falkens which seem to be liked by some and not by others..

How did the RE050As compare?

I replaced S02 (N3 fittment) on the back with Falken 452's in November.

They cost me £86 each, and I absolutely wouldn't swap back.

I found the S02's to be unpredictable in the corners, and not a lot better in a straight line.

I had S02 N3 on my car when I got it. Took them off within a month.

The RE050A is basically a good tyre under all circumstances.

Except I hated it, there is a certain 'swimminess' to it that wouldn't go away; made the car feel like a MK4 Cortina. Almost like the sidewalls were incredibly soft. Or like RE040As on a GD Jazz, in fact.

I run rather low castor/lots of camber & little toe; Lovegroova prefers rather more conservative settings & says he likes the RE050As. So that might be it.

I went for RE050s on 17" Mugen GPs instead, which are far more S2000-friendly.

I like the sound of Yokohama Advan AD08s now! If they work well on the NSX...

AD08s are not the correct speed setting in the 16" sizes (V instead of W) which might possibly cause some insurance problems - check first. They also cost a fair bit more than RE050as, which, as Nick says, I've used for years now and find them pretty good all round.

There is that.

Must be a bugger having them on a car that does 150!

I also had a local garage put these on by mistake instead of the reo50a's I asked for. They looked plain wrong, left the lip of my rim exposed and didnt handle at all well, although fresh rubber never does so that might be unfair, i got them to replace them the very next day to the reo50a's and im very happy with them.
