Default UK Spec Import

I'm sorely tempted to go down the route of buying a UK spec S2000 import - such as a new or used Bob Gerard car.

But what are the potential minuses of going down this route? Are there any fundamental differences between a uk car and a uk spec import?

i.e - aside from the fact they are an Import (and insurance may be slightly higher), Are they the same mechanically? Is the rust protection etc. of the same quality?

Insurance should not be affected as it is 'UK Specification'

I think the only difference nowdays is that the imported cars come with a 3 year, 60,000mile warranty compared to 3 year 90,000 miles on a UK car.

A Honda Dealer who i've spoken to, who obviously want to put down the imports as much as possible, claim that there is a different ECU management system - resulting in less power, and also the imports aren't undersealed properly.

Is this bollox??

I've got a Uk Spec import and the thing about power is total bollox. Why would they sell a car in Europ that's less powerful?? Can't comment on undersealing but don't see why It'd be different.

Utter bollox.

the dealers spin all sorts of lines. The best one i heard was that the geometry is different on cars supplied via europe as they drive on the other side of the road.

The only difference when you collect it between a BG suppplied car and a Honda Uk supplied car is that the BG car will have a 60k mile 3 year warranty and no AA cover.

Is that worth

What colour are you going to get?

(Just remember the Silver ones are the quickest)
