Vague steering after lowering + new tires
#11
That's pretty low to be honest even with the extra 1cm . Do you have camber arms, toe arms , steering rack spacers at all ?
As lovegroova says and from my reading /understanding/info I've been given the s2k really is at its best handling with a max drop of around 20-30mm

Unfortunately all those things are not allowed here, I will get the steering rack spacers though and paint them black for inspection.
When I had the alignment done it was 30mm lower than standard, now sits 45mm lower at the moment.
Found another thread of someone having a similar issue with new AD08 tires on his S2000 for the first 1000-1500 miles, I've bought them new before for my FWD and didn't notice any differences in handling when I started using them.
S2000 is probably more sensitive to this as it's RWD?

It sounds like you are just looking for someone you ratify your premise that it's the new tyres and not the 45mm drop (which it almost definitely is).
If the items you'll need to drive the car safely are outlawed in Belgium, put it back up 15mm.

It's not the tyres. I've had AD08R's on my S for over 2 years now. If anything the steering actually felt better and the car had significantly more grip and was more predictable. Lowering the ride height WILL change the suspension geometry, a big drop will change things even more significantly. Either get the geo done again or raise the ride height to what it was before. Simples.

Not trying to put you down, you've messed with the set up of a pretty perfectly designed sports car just for cosmetic reasons, and found it's stopped handling properly.
Cause and effect.

You've probably lowered it beyond the camber arcs of the suspension, so it will handle like crap whatever you do.
S2000s (and Hondas in general) should only be lowered very slightly - as per LG's old car.
You've also made it look broken, as well as be broken.

Yes, I get it I'll raise it back up soon and try the UK specs when I get it aligned again
I just didn't expect it to be as different as night and day when lowering it just a bit more, hence why I thought tires might've been part of the problem as well
