[QUOTE=(S2K4ME),Sep 28 2007, 12:12 PM] Thanks for all the tips, however everyone is making it sound as though they go to a track with no intention on times or bettering themselves

Unless it's empty, you won't get clear laps anyway. So timing becomes a bit irrelevant. You'll know when you get things right and when you get things wrong, so work on getting it right as much as you can. If you get into timing and then trying to beat it you'll just start taking stupid risks.

Forget about what the car should do; it's all about knowledge. You're going to get overtaken by lots of cars you consider inferior because they have better knowledge of the track, or they're just better drivers.

But if you must, my first ever trip I timed myself at 10mins 30 and was pretty disapointed relative to Clarkson etc., but you have to remember that even though it was a diesel it was a pretty fast diesel. If you get below 10 mins on you're first trip you're doing very well. I think I can do <9 mins now, but I've never timed myself doing it on a clear lap.

Dembo, that is excellent advice and that is exactly what I am looking for.

When ever I have done track days before I have always thought about the times, but realistically when you get out on the track it is suddenly the last thing on your mind

Thanks everyone, I am leaving for Folkestone in an hour and I'll let you all know how I get on. Don't worry I will have lots of piccies

Hi guys I am back from "The Ring" and that was an awesome weekend!

It rained all the way there and all the way back, but on the Sunday it was a clear blue sky for the whole day.

All I can say is - oh my god, how much fun was that!!

I am going to add lots of photos, mostly of the car park so you guys can take a look

Well it was great fun but also very eventful.

The cars were: My S2K, Lotus Elise 111s, Nissan 200sx, Golf V6 4motion and 2x Triumph Speed Triples.

The ring was closed 3 times in the day because of crashes and the worst one was a MYOO german S2K - that was a complete mess. Then there was an M3 and a few motor bikes came off at the same time

The Ringers (me on the left)

Bikers wet gloves

Even though I was told / adviced not to do it, well one of the guys videod me and I got round in 9 mins 22 seconds and I had a completely clear track as every one had gone home

Oh and the Maestro!

Sorry my time is at the bottom, so you probably didn't see it!

A mate even videod my lap and I managed 9 mins 22, was a clear track.

Lots of little errors but I reckon I could easily knock of 20 seconds with more lap experience.

I plan on going again next July time

Cheers for posting up the photos. I love hearing about peoples trip to the 'ring. Yet I've never gone there myself

An interesting mix in cars in your convoy. How did they all get on?

with silverinho about the white S and Escort.

I'm also liking your red Honda badges as well. Works well with the RNB
