VTEC solenoid torque spec

Hi guys, i replaced the 2 gaskets on my solenoid today. Everything was going well until on tightening the last bolt on the oil Pressure Switch i thought "what harm could one last tug of the ratchet do". In case you don't know, it can snap the bolt; resulting in me spending 3 hours slowly turning to back out with a pair of pliers.
Anyway i have 3 new bolts and a small torque wrench on the way. My question is: what is the correct torque spec. I found this online (http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/Ho...e%20Manual.pdf) (section 6-9 or page 123) which is the revised manual from 2002 that shows 8.7 lbf.ft. but a quick google for S2000 torque specs will yield this as the top result (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-li...-specs-500969/), this says 16 lbf-ft. Does anyone know which is correct, were they further revised after 2002 ect. My car is a 2003 btw.

Thanks

Matt.

In all honesty hand tight, these are small bolts and the smaller the bolt the less tolerance it has/more likely to snap.

I've fitted them in the past.

Thanks, I'll just go with the 8.7 to start and check for leaks after a quick blast.

One finger-pull on a 10mm ring spanner.

It's the same torque spec on both those sources but it seems you are looking at different things.
The three bolts for the housing should be torqued to 8.7 and solenoid to 16 lb-ft.

VTEC solenoid valve bolt torque is 8.7 lb-ft in both links. The "standard" torque for a bolt this size throughout the service manual.

I was looking at this:
VTEC Oil Pressure Switch - 16
VTEC Solenoid Valve - 8.7

I thought the pressure switch was the bottom part and the valve was the top. i see now that the pressure switch is what i plug the connector into.

Honda wants 6 x 1.0mm bolts torqued to 12nM or 8.7 lb-ft.

If you're looking at another size bolt it will be different. See

http://www.cncexpo.com/MetricBoltTorque.aspx

Note the 75% proof load torque spec for a 6 x 1.0 bolt is 7.7 lb-ft so Honda wants a little tighter.
