That's shocking. I saw the pistonheads ad earlier and thought why so cheap?

Good work on finding the real ad. Have you reported it?

Reported it to Pistonheads with a link, and sent the ebayer a message.
This seems to happen frequently with PH, but it takes them an age to remove the ad. I hope no one loses money chasing it.
There was a black GT advertised too cheaply on there recently that re-appeared several times from different parts of the country.

Back again for the weekend, this time he claims to be in Coventry. If we all reported this ad to Pistonheads, they might do something about it more quickly.

How do these scams work? Surely people don't hand over money to strangers without having seen the car in person, do they?

You'd be surprised. A freind of mine picked up a R35 GTR this week, he saw the advert an hour or so after it went live, picked up the phone and put down £500 over the phone to hold the car.

It worked out for him as the car was real and what he wanted but for the more unscrupulous you only have to do that a few times and you're onto a winner.

That's exactly how it works. You ring the seller to be told there's a lot of interest (there would be at that price) and to "reserve" the car, you need to give a deposit. They're all very matey and friendly on the phone and then disappear once you've paid the money. It takes Pistonheads a good few days to remove the ad, and I suspect that's the reason it appears on a Friday, as nothing will be done until Monday at the earliest.

I've just checked and the ad has been rejected by PH. That's less that 18 hours since I reported it, so it looks like PH are getting better. I'm prepared to bet it returns within the next 10 days. Watch this space!
