Default A wee drive

Photos from our drive up to Shieldaig/Applecross at the weekend. Fantastic scenery and roads!

You got the weather for it mate. Torridon is my favourite part of Scotland and my favourite roads and hills are up there. We were in Applecross and Shieldaig in September and the run over the Bealach na ba was amaizing. We managed to get out last weekend as well up to the roads around Ben Lawers. If you've not done them you will love it, and if you have then you know what I'm talking about.

Very nice! I've not taken the car up there yet - will do next time we get some sun (next summer?!)

That was the first time I'd been to Applecross. We actually enjoyed the roads on the other side of the Bealach na Ba better as the single track is a nightmare on a busy day!

Last time we were up there, we were staying in loch carron, so did the drive at 6am. Had the road to ourselves, which is a lot of fun

I can recommend the Torridon Inn as the place to stay if you are up that way. Great food and drink, relaxed, and priced well. There is something to be said for driving on a road that if you get it wrong you fall off the side of a mountain . It has a way of focussing the mind.

I was up that way last year driving up the Applecross road and got waved over to be warned of a car towing a carvan coming down the road toward us I quickly floored it to the top to avoid it and this was in thick fog to add to the drama!
How he was planning on taking those hair pins bends with a caravan on the back god only knows!
