Weeping Injector & Seal Replacement Query
Hi Guys,
Ive seen a couple of posts lately about smelling fuel in the cabin, I drove the s2000 yesterday and noticed the same thing.
It turned out to be a very slight weeping injector. From the leakage around the injector it would seem that it has probably been occurring for some time.
When I got to work, I cleaned the injector and made sure the rail was secured which it was.
After I got home I monitored it at idle and the leak seemed to have stopped.
A couple of questions.
I assume a seal would need to be replaced, are the injectors/fuel rail easy to remove?
The only think that looks abit odd is the plastic white cap? I assume this is the fuel line into the rail?
How does that come off or can I change the seals without needing to remove this?
According to Lings the injector has various seals. The seals are not too bad in costs and I assume from the leak it’s the top seal of the injector.
Would it be best to change all x4 top seals? Number 35
Part: 16074-ZY3-000
What about the others? Is there any other seals that is worth replacing whilst I have the whole thing out?
I.e Part 3 and 2
Thanks again guys.

I had this (and seen others with it too) and it was weeping from the side of the injector itself near the join between the plastic and metal. I picked up a used injector and a Keihin refurb kit and cleaned the whole lot while I had the fuel rail off with an ultrasonic bath + carb cleaner and a 9v battery
Fairly easy job, the most difficult bit is not dropping the nuts into the black hole that is the S2000 engine bay

Thanks @BenRNBP
That video looks really interesting.
Thanks for the link, how you getting on with those seals?
I think I need seal number 2 in the diagram, but seeing your link its probably wise to change 35 as well I think.
Does the injector just pop away from the fuel rail?

Yes they just pull clear with the rail, some may stay in the mani but they aren't super tight and will pull free. Reassembly, you'll want to lube the seals with a small amount of Vaseline or fresh engine oil. I can't remember when I did the job exactly, a good few years ago - seals are still good though.

For sure you should change the o-rings (35) while you are at it, I would guess that's where it would leak.
Good idea to replace 2 also, that rubber is probably pretty hard.
Start the car with fuel pump fuse removed to relieve the pressure on the rail..
Don't remove the fuel supply, just loosen rail and lift it up then you should be able to wiggle and pop out each injector, have a rag ready it will leak fuel.

I replaced all the seals. Was a very enjoyable job to do.
Cleaned the car this evening ready for a weekend drive tomorrow to meet up with a few old mates and suddenly I smelt fuel.
Injector is still leaking. Damn it. lol.
Seems like I have the same issue as you did. Its leaking around the plastic section of the injector.
Must be a hairline crack or something.
At least the injectors all have new seals now. haha.
I guess I will have to find a 2nd hand injector from ebay
They are around £334 brand new from Honda lol

Replacement injector was fitted and all leaks have now been resolved.
Thanks all for your help and advise.

Injector-related question - given people on-thread have clearly installed replacements... are new ones any quieter than the old ones you had? I know the injectors on the S2K are generally pretty loud but my motor has done 108K and if a new set would quieten things down a little I would be sorely tempted.
