Wet under driver seat / roof leak
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...65b1ec6b3.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...8824d3c84.jpeg Good evening. yesterday was supposed to be a happy time as I bought some oem mats of the Facebook page for a great price. Upon installing them I checked under the carpets as I’ve been getting a damp smell. Like a swimming pool under there. tracked it down to a drip in the back corner behind the driver seat. Soft top drain is clear. I’m now stumped, there’s a thread on here about the seal at the back of the roof. I have a new mohair roof installed approximately 2 years ago. Any ideas? TIA |
You might need Tena Man ! |
To soak up my tears yes ☹️

Is there any tail tail signs of where the water is getting in?
I have read many threads about the roof drainage holes getting blocked etc but that would result in a wet boot area. Although it can trickle forward int he cabin too. It seems you have a god situation where the seat is already out of the car, so it would be ideal to spray water with the hood up and door closed and see where water enters. It would give you some idea where water is getting in. I assume it has never leaked since the new hood was fitted? |
Yes I can see where water is getting in. Then it’s trickling down behind the seats. see picture below water is dripping down the left side of the sound insulation where I’ve pulled the bottom corner off. It then puddles where the black grommet is then sleeps forward. I needed to spray a lot of water on the hood to make it come through. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...cf21eb053.jpeg |
Ahhh I see, must be your roof drains/channels that are blocked.

Both unblocked and running through nicely Boot lid channels perhaps? My guess would be the hood itself, maybe a slight tear or the glass is leaking slightly maybe |
The glass is fine I’ve checked that. Only thing that leaves really is the hood rail. I spoke to a trimmer yesterday who wanted £1200 just to take it apart as he said he wouldn’t put the old roof back on, even though it’s 18 months old. So for now all carpets trims and seats are out, not sure where to go from here. |
Who fitted the new roof?
Maybe they would sort it |
