What 3M Double Sided Tape to fit BMW Chop Spoiler - Thickness

Hi Guys,

Apologies if this has been asked before but I have purchased a BMW chop mid level type spoiler.

Amazed by the two day delivery and the colour match is fantastic. Really impressed!

However, I tried to fit it today and it seemed the spoiler is not 100% flush with the boot lid, the ends of the spoiler doesn't 100% follow the curvature of the boot lid.
When I attached the supplied tape to the under side of the spoiler there seems to be a slight gap on the towards the end of the spoiler.
It seems the tape need to be thicker or the recess on which the tape sits on is below the edge of the underside of the spoiler.

I didnt remove all the tape as I abandoned the job after I saw this.

Anyone have the same issue?
Do I need thicker 3M tape?

Thanks for your help peeps!

i have installed two of these in my time. The tape that comes with it is bit crap. Get proper all weather 3m tape...also i would recommend masking/painters tape. To use as guide to center it correctly. First dry place it where you want it (without the gap you mentioned) then cafefuly place painters tape around it on a car. Now you can stick it on...

As mentioned above I would ditch the stuff that comes with it. I ordered some genuine 3M tape from eBay (15mm x 3m) and it stuck it perfectly.

Thanks for your advice guys!
I have purchased some decent 3M automotive double sided tape in 1.5mm thickness.
The supplied tape is approx 0.8mm thick.

Will post back and update

I used the the supplied bolt system on OE spoiler but this has a slight gap too, keep meaning to seal the gap using 3m tape from work we use to fit number plates, hope that it tidies it up although no one else has noticed.

I really want to bolt the spoiler in place, something about sticking it on doesn't fill me with much confidence.
Not confident enough to drill into the boot lid though. lol

Will give the new 3M tape i have purchased a go this weekend
