Sort of fits with the idea that I have, that the rear spoiler option should involve putting something like that, albeit larger, there instead of the heavy & pointless additional spoilers atop the bootlid that most employ.

I don't think it works if the car is spoilerless. It now looks like a spoiler in it's own right, albeit a very small one. Which looks lost sat on the boot lid and therefore a bit silly.
Just IMO, but 10/10 for trying something different.
