Default Wheel Bearings

Hello Guys

Im putting some extended wheel studs on so need to replace the hub bearings. Bit of a shame really as the originals are still in pretty good condition.

I ve looked around and they seem very expensive. The honda parts are £80 each and eBay copies are still £52 !

Can someone point me in the direction of some cheaper ones please?

sorry to go off topic but why do you need to change wheel bearings to fit extended studs?

Rob as far as I know reused bearings don't last so long after you remove and refit the hub assembly. Though I personally have no experience in this department thats just from what I have read on here.

Plus whilst its all apart its a nice thing to do.

Are you saying you have to remove the hub to remove the studs?

No way, I reckon you can just hammer them out and hammer the new ones in.

ATEOTD, studs are prone to snapping so i cannot believe that you have to remove the hub to remove a stud.

You certainly don't have to on a Civic/Integra and Honda won't redeisgn for the sake of it

You DO have to remove the hubs,Ive got to change mine for the same reason a Razzale, but as my car has only done 4000 miles ive been told the wheel bearings "should" be ok, Raz will pm you about my rear brake pads when Ive got more time.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Can someone point me to the best place to buy these bearings. I am gutted about how expensive this is going to be. It is eating into the APR fund.

Just as an aside, how do you know if a bearing has gone? If I load up my front drivers wheel on a hard left turn I hear a clicking. It's not from the back wheel and is silent at all other times. Is this the beginning of the bearing failing?

I needed a new rear bearing not long back.
In the end I got it from the main dealer.

I found the same ebay one as you and also found a company that offered some for £75.
I decided that the ebay one seemed a bit too budget and the £75 was too close to OEM price to not go OEM.
As the bearings are such key elements of the car I decided not to skimp.

I also agree that once the hubs been removed the bearing has a good chance of being knackered. I was told that by a mechanic and had it happen to me.
I presume it's something to do with the bearing having a bit of an internal shuffle when the driveshaft is removed – but that's a total guess.
