Ok grip but in theory dose better grip not give better handling?

Not really. The MX5 handles beautifully (in my opinion) but it's not got bags of grip.

I have a set of 18s (Buddyclub P1s) and admittedly I bought them 'for show' because this is my daily driver and wanted the 'looks' after all don't most people buy new wheels for the looks?. And since I only really drive it aggressively on a weekend (no point going back and forward to work during the week). Didn't think it would matter so much.

My two cents. The wheels are a lot lighter than OEM (yes I know this will be offset by the 18" tyres being heavier) and the ride slightly firmer and feel the bumps a bit more but there seems to be no negative effect with regards handling, after all is that not more down to tyre choice? than wheels?
