I wouldn't worry mate, but well worth checking every week just incase it decides to take a gulp.
It's nice to hear you're driving your car properly and taking it to 9k
I've had my S since October and done 4k miles, and it hasn't moved at all. I've heard the S can burn some makes of oils faster than others.
I've been checking my S according to the manual and checking it when the engine gets to temp, unlike my other cars. I live on a slope, so I've used Repiv suggestion

It's all down to the oil fairies and and how good a mood they're in, also, how the car has been treated and how old the oil is.

I drove like a granny when I first got mine 4 months ago and it never went down.
Then I stopped checking and randomly decided to 2-3 weeks later and it was halfway down the dipstick.
Now I Vtec it a lot more and I have covered 600 miles since its last oil change and its still at the top X.
The S2K is a pot of mystical mysteries.

Generally the pre 04 MY cars use more oil than the later ones, it has something to do with the cam cover design IIRC. Having said that, my 02 is as Dembo and others have said, no use, no use, no use, wow, where did all that go. Oh and for info, Castrol Edge TD is what's in there.

14k miles in the last year and the oil has been changed 3 times in that period - it's chump change really. As above, it's only when it starts to get a bit older that it seems to start sipping it oh and that's also when you start to hear the TCT a bit more. Soon as the oil is changed, all the noises go with it.
