Another vote for using a VAX.
your challenge might be removing blood stains though.

Ok, so Phase 1 of Operation Milky Mayhem has begun
Passenger seat and carpet is out. I may be lucky in that the smell doesn't seem to have permeated fully through to the underside of the carpet. I'm going to Vax that bad boy to within an inch of its life tomorrow and see where that gets me! I'm feeling fairly philosophical about the whole thing now. No good crying over..... waffle waffle and all that.
I'm going to need to replace some of the black push rivets that hold it in place and just to be on the safe side, I'm also going to replace the soundproofing. So 2 questions folks...
Do Halfrauds sell the push rivets....? (would rather get the job completed this weekend rather waiting to order them from a dealer)
Does anybody know where I can buy the soundproofing from? (again, preferably over the weekend. I need about 2 square feet).
Thanks again all

I hired a Rug Doctor machine today and have steamed the carpet twice already. There's still a definite sour milky tinge to it though
Will give it another couple of goes tomorrow.
Oh by the way, Sainsburys did offer to pay for a valet but I wanted to give it a thorough going over so they paid for the machine and all of the detergents instead. Quite decent of them. Just hope I dont have to go back to them for a new carpet.

Well over the last couple of days I've thoroughly scrubbed the carpet, front and back. I peeled the sound proofing of the back and have steam cleaned it several times also. Each time I've allowed the whole thing to dry naturally outside. I've also cleaned the floor pan of the car a couple of times with an anti-bacterial cleaner.
The net result is that the smell of mouldy milk seems to have lifted I guess the true test will come when the carpet has been back in the car for a couple of days.
I think where spillages are concerned the answer has to be to get the carpet (or seat) out. If you try to clean in situ, it just wont work.
Thanks again for your tips guys.
