Default Will I lunch my engine if I..........

I have a MY00 with an aftermarket TC system fitted. (Racelogic).

The TC works by detecting wheel speed via the ABS sensors and then cuts the injectors progressively depending on the difference in speed between the wheels. It's spliced into the relevant wires that go from the sensors to the ECU.

My question is, if I change the wiring slightly so that instead of cutting the fuel, it cuts the spark, will I;

1: Get little poppy flames out of my exhaust when it kicks in? At the moment, when you set it at maximum sensitivity and stamp on the throttle on a roundabout it makes a lovely popping noise like a rally car.

2: If the answer to the above is yes, will I destroy my engine/manifold/exhaust in the process? (aftermarket manifold and exhaust)

(Yes, I know, it's highly immature and I should find something more productive to do with my time. I'm 46 and I should know better but the truth is I figure I'll grow up when I retire.)

Your thoughts please. (On if this will work as planned, not on what a pointless idea it is, I already know that).

Are you trying for a Batmobile effect?
I assume it been decat'ed, otherwise you will find that FUBAR!

EDIT- Hay at £1.40 a litre what else are you going to use the fuel for?

I don't know, but like your thinking. Pops and flames would be sweet

De-cat, yes.

It's not like my MPG is going to plummet. My right foot and the TC dial will dictate how often the spark is suppressed (Plus the TC is fully configurable)so it's not going to be chucking half a litre of unburned 98RON into the exhaust and then ignite it.

Doubt it will do any damage. Bike quickshifters cut the spark and probably how the tc works on them too.

I've set my Haltech to ignition cut rather than fuel cut, I prefer ignition because it is generally softer and you are less likely to cause detonation. However I don't get pops or flames, not that I went somewhere quiet and set the rev limiter quite low and bounced it for a few seconds to try it.

Still having a standard exhaust and a cat might have stopped it from happening though.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!
I had the Racelogic on my SC'ed S and it worked well with maximum pops and flames

If you cut the spark you will get petrol wash on the bores creating premature wear and thinning of the oil, depending on how much you intend to play

If it causes mass over-fuelling while this is happening you can gradually melt a piston(s) and the cylinder head
