Truly horrific. It seems that we've got complacent about motorsport safety in the years since 1994. Now Burti is incredibly luck to be okay in a massive crash, and now Zanardi loses his legs, and still has a fight on his hand. Truly sobering.

I was impressed by the discussion on the Scobby net board.

I'm not sure I'll risk a Rockingham track day now. I'd been thinking about a track day there, but the comments about turn 1...

We haven't got complacent, in fact the reson these guys are alive , especially Burti, is the changes that have been made.

I feel for Alex, I even asked for him to be the driver I would chauffeur round Rockingham. It does seem that the really nice guys always seem to be the ones that have the bad crashes.

So there are some rock apes then?

Seriously, I've come across some forums where you need to wear nomex to post. Thankfully not here, or Scooby Net.

Always rock apes.... I wonder why

God help you on Scooby Net if you've posted to the wrong forum or not used the search engine.....

Mind you there's so much traffic on Scoobynet you can't keep up. There's also people up at 3/4am which can be a distraction
