Not positive on either of those. Post some findings when you come up with info. I'm sure others have same questions and it could help them in future

IMO, proximity sensors are worthless, if someone is going to steal something from the inside of the car when the top is down, they're stealing it regardless of it having an alarm or not. Also, if you set the sensitivity too high, it will go off all the time from people walking by.

Can't go wrong with a Viper alarm, they've treated me well in the past

Agreed that top down is top down. Alarms are worthless at that point. However I do like the sensitivity of mine and it does work fairly well.

I will add that I had a coworker with a new Jeep Wrangler. He had a proximity alarm, and it was annoying as hell when it beeped as you walked by. He said on several occasions how it would get activated very easily, sometimes killing his battery.

Leaves dropping into mine used to set it off, highly annoying. I ended up disabling the proximity sensor, too many false alarms.

wow mine is definitely not that sensitive. it takes someone bumping into the car, a door closing, or the act of sitting in the car to set it off. Basically if a human comes in direct contact with the car it will go off. Walking by, leaves, etc do not set it off by any means.

My BMW had CompuStar Remote Start/Alarm. Worked great.
