Exclamation WTB: AP-1 differential -- FOUND

Greetings, S2Ki!

Once again looking for a gently used, well maintained, intact, reliable differential for my 2003 S2k.

I understand the benefits of going to an AP-2 diff, but really don’t want to mess with a hybrid AP-1/AP-2 prop shaft, or swapping out diff input or trans output flanges.

Planned use includes a few Auto-X days and SCCA Track Nights each year. Otherwise, it’s my daily driver over the fleeting summer months.

If you can help me, great. I’m willing to pay a fair premium for the right diff, but I’m in no big hurry. Up here in the great white north, my S is in storage until April.

Thanks in advance.

Marty, you may want to hit up ASMotorsports in Plover, WI to see if they happen to have a diff or two for you. I know some of their cars have gone with non-S2000 rear ends recently and may be sitting on one or two extra diffs. As for dealing with swapping AP1 flange for AP2 (or vice versa), it's about 10 minutes with a impact gun and a slide hammer. I'm assuming you already have an impact gun if you're going to swap rear ends; slide hammer can be borrowed from your local parts store if you don't have one. You only really need to slide hammer the flange off the diff, when swapping flanges back on, your impact gun will seat it.

ASM had nothing for me, but it’s good to know they’re just a couple hours away. I may have to make a run up there this summer!

Did you end up finding a rear end? I happen to pick one up one out of Port Washington yesterday. Let me know if you're still in need.

Otherwise, I can keep looking for one closer to you.

Thanks for keeping me in mind, Luder94 -- much appreciated! Yes, I did find a good used diff from an S2ki member in upstate NY, and I received it late last week.

I'll have to figure out how to modify this post to indicate that I'm no longer looking. do I just delete the entire thread?
