Default Collector Plates

Has anybody tried or thought about getting collector plates? Only works for the '00-'02 owners so far since the car has to be 15 years old and the model discontinued for 5.

Hi, if in BC, we have a way to go. Honda still makes vehicles and there were more than 1500 each model year. To qualify, your vehicle must be one of the following:
  • 25 years or older
  • A limited production vehicle
    • 15 years or older, and
    • 1 of no more than 1,500 of that make and model (not edition) produced worldwide by the manufacturer for that model year.
  • A discontinued vehicle
    • 15 years or older, and
    • A manufacturer that owns the "trademark" or "make" of that vehicle has ceased manufacturing vehicles of any kind for at least the last five years.

Ahhhh, I see they changed the wording since last time I looked. I'm pretty sure it used to be just 15 years or older and 5 years discontinued for that model on the last point there. Thanks for the heads up. Well then, this changes all my plans, lol.

My understanding of:
  • A manufacturer that owns the "trademark" or "make" of that vehicle has ceased manufacturing vehicles of any kind for at least the last five years.
refers to a manufacture who no longer makes cars. As Honda has made and continues to make cars, we will have to wait the 25 years from model year for our S2Ks.

In BC, you will have to wait for 25 years from MY date. Honda is still in business of making cars (Civic, Accord, etc)
This rule does not apply to S2000:
A discontinued vehicle
  • 15 years or older, and
  • A manufacturer that owns the "trademark" or "make" of that vehicle has ceased manufacturing vehicles of any kind for at least the last five years.

Honda still is manufacturing the vehicles. so 15 year one is not applied to s2000.
Only Saab vehicles can be collector after 15 years because it is sold to some Chinese company.
