I bought one that did require modification (identical to the one shown in the diy) . It took less than 2min with a grinder and a file. I know this doesnt answer your question, just saying the mods are very minimal.

Well I just picked it up at KMS Tools in Coquitlam, I've seen them at various Lordco stores as well. It was around $20, I think I'll keep it. You never know when it may come in handay again, and you can never have too many tools.

The supply chain for parts on the S2000 is insane. Are other Honda models as bad? I don't know - this is the first Honda I've owned.
I need another cotter (or two) to finish my replacement - they are back-ordered until June! It's crazy...
I decided to leave one of my non-recessed retainers in place and re-assembled the car. I'll change the remaining AP1 retainer once the part arrives... What a PITA.

The dealership said the part was DISCONTINUED and unavailable in all of North America!! The S2000 was still in production at that point, and even then, Toyota used to carry parts for my 1986 MR2 15 years after the model was discontinued. So what's with Honda?
They eventually went out of their way to order it from Honda Japan for me, at their expense. Which is great. But it's strange that this happened to begin with.

It makes me worried about getting parts in a few years. It would be interesting to see if the part you needed could be sourced directly from the states.

I just recived my shipping notification and tracking No. from USPS. It looks like HTG is going to pull through this time. A little later than quoted but I don't mind in the least looking at the weather for the next couple weeks.

That's pretty typical of what I've experienced in my 9-10 months of Honda ownership so far...
