Leak Behind Clutch Pedal

I noticed a leak in the cylinder behind my clutch pedal. Please see pics. Black fluid is coming out and dripping on to my carpet. Clutch fluid level in the hood is OK and clutch operation is fine. But there's definitely a leak cause I wiped it off last week and it's wet again this week. Car has 75k kms.

What do you think it is? How do I diagnose?

Thank you.

Clutch master cylinder has to be replaced.

Not too pricey though. :) don't worry haha

Perhaps that could be the cause of your notchy shifting problem.

i have to bleed the clutch every so often.

Before changing out the Clutch Master Cylinder I would change the clutch (i.e. Brake) fluid first, since it's cheap to do so (few dollars and a little bit of time). Sometimes changing it out will stop the leaking. If there grinding in your 1st to 2nd shift, removing some of the play in the clutch rod will help too.

Thanks guys.

I did adjust the rod behind the pedal a week ago to remove the slack in my clutch (that's when I first noticed the leak). The clutch feels better, but didn't do anything for the 1-2 notch.

But if the master cylinder is leaking, why would simply changing the fluid stop the leak? Don't I have to change the cylinder?

Where did you guys buy your cylinders and for how much? Any other parts I need, like seals and such?

Ask Duaine S2S on here, he has connections ....,

According to the Parts Diagram, this part appears to be the clutch SLAVE cylinder, and not the master. Am I missing something? Can someone confirm that it's actually the clutch slave that I need and not the master?

Diagram

It's kind of odd everyone, including on other forums, refer to it as the master when it's really the slave.
