Default New Tires - Review

Well after years of resisting the change from SO2's, I finally got tired of the outrageous tread wear. I picked up a set of Michelin - Pilot

softer sidewalls? Anyway, I think for street drivers, most of the time the tire differences won't really be felt.

Vik is correct.
Most of the time, people on the streets rarely see 0.40g's. So these seat of the pants feel really isn't that accurate. The other thing is that the S02's are made with 10+ year old tire and rubber technology. The new tire is much newer so the compound is different. Grassroot motorsports recently did a tire test where some of the newest extreme performance were tested against some of the older R-compund tires like the Victoracer's and 032R's and the test found the newer tires were as fast if not faster than those older "race" tires.

A softer sidewall from the A/S tire will definately give you a softer less harsh ride.

My step up from S02's to RE01R's made me a fan of Bridgestone for life. I am very happy with the RE01R's and will be buying RE11's when both sets of mine wear out. Granted, my S02's were OE and were worn out, but I was amazed what a difference in tread compound made. I have been looking for a good set of all seasons for the winter and I may check these ones out. Thanks!

If you like the A/S you should try the regular pilot sport, i think it is the best performance/ summer tire, better than RE050 and S02.

Fronts are 205/55R16 89W and the rears are 225/50R16 92W. The cost was $949 (tax in with a $70 coupon). I agree that given my driving style it would be quite difficult for me to tell a difference, but I really do like the softer ride. I don't get a sense of losing road feel, but rather adding some comfort.

I don't think that I need the extra performance that I would get from a pure summer tire, and I kind of like the idea that I could take the car out in colder weather if I desire. Granted, it really is a garage queen, but you never know when you might want to go for a top down spin in the middle of January...

Thanks for the feedback! You should bring the garage queen out to the "power of dreams" meet!

I'll try and make it out to a couple of the meets this summer, but the travel schedule is pretty busy.
