Default 17 vs. 18

I'm trying to decide between 17" and 18" rims. Which is going to be the better choice in wiehgt savings vs. overall grip? The look won't change a whole lot, I'm more interested in the weight advantage, but if it is nominal, the 18's will look a bit better.

What is everyone here running? Why? Which do you think is better and why?

No flames please, only opinions from those who actually know what they are talking about. The look is secondary for me, the performance is king in my book.

If performance is your top priorty, then go with 17" CE28N.

17" for the win.

17" rims will be lighter and give you a larger sidewall which also equals better performance. 18" will hurt your cars performance. Light weight 17" rims are also much better than typical 17" rims if you are going for performance.

Performance
16" lighter than OEM
17" ligher than OEM
18" lighter than OEM (not too many out there if any)
OEM
17" heavier than OEM
18" heavier than OEM
19" and up you get the picture
Takes away from performance

The weight of the rims plays they largest role in performance although after weight it is sidewall height and tread compound but that is a whole other story.
