Default 17's on 2000 ap1

Hi guys,

I have a 2000 ap1. I was thinking about increasing the wheel size to 17' as the tyre selection increases dramitically (not to mention their quite abit cheaper in this selection).
However I dont wish to sacrafice any performance...that said... deviate too much from the standard characteristics.
I'v done a search and found a myriad of info but everyone seems to have their own idea on the stardard oem.
Im running what I believe is starndard being - 205/55 16 (front) 225/50 16 (rear)

As im sure many of you have changed up to 17's but I'm wanting abit of feedback from people who have done the move that often take it for very spirited drives and can tell me from experience.

Thanks alot in advance

you could just buy a set of ap2 wheels since you want stock sizes
theirs 3 different styles and they all look good imo, and theyre 17inch

You can usually pick up a set of these for $400-$600. Best upgrade option if you want to remain as close to stock as possible. If you havent seen them, here you go:

AP2 Version 1

AP2 Version 2

AP2 Version 3

No tires I'm aware of are cheaper in AP2 sizes than they are in AP1 sizes, quite the opposite, 16s are cheaper. I guess it's possible that there are cheaper tires available in 17" sizes that don't come in 16"...

There is a greater selection in 17s, but many of the best tires in any category are available in AP1 sizes (205/55-16 F, 225/50-16 R).

Agree with the others that used AP2 wheels are your best bet if you want to go to 17s. They have the right offsets for the S2000, they're not too too heavy (heavier than AP1 wheels, though), and the price should be right.

I personally wouldn't spend 400-600 on stocks but thats just me. If you're considering going stock 400-600 isn't bad compared to what I've seen like 700-900 for stocks... outragous.

I recently moved up to 17" wheels and you will definitely notice a difference.

Here is a thread I started with my impressions. If it ever warms up some around here I will add to the post. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...pic=761099&hl=

I went OEM for a couple of reasons, first I really like the way they look and second no fitment issues just bolt on and go.

That seemed to be the general consensus on the v3's. I have always liked them. Just a classic five spoke wheel .

I agree.. if I had a choice it be the V3s. Lets keep the webbed wheels on the VW, Bimmers etc... where they belong.. or the granny cars.
