4 AP2 rears, maybe one set widened to 9.5"
Anyone familiar with wheels from a site linked below called Wheels and Caps? If their weight, materials & finish is the same as AP2 OEMs, I'm interested in having them sent off to a company that widens the rims into a fitment that I want. Wanting to run 245 or 255 up front and 275 or 285 out back for auto-x.

Weldcraft Wheel Widening
Definitely welcome thoughts / experiences / recommendations for the wheel company and any experiences with the wheel fitment.
Fitment is 1.5" wider than AP2 stock front and 1" wider rear. The rear width increase is at the inboard side of the wheel, meaning offset increases to ~ 67.7 and 77.7 (from the stock 55 and 65, since offset is measured from the now different centerline to the inner face of the wheel).
At $150/wheel for widening, I may try to save $300 of widening if I order four rears and have the pair I plan for the front get the bores increased to fit the front hub bore. Otherwise I could do a pair of fronts (17x7 and have them widened to 8 if 8.5 width / 65 offset was too wide)
That makes ~ $1025 (+ $75 shipping from the wheel widener = $1100) for widths that allow me to run 245 or 255 front and 275 or 285 rear on a 17" wheel. Not the lightest solution, but probably the most offset I can find to keep everything tucked into the wheel wells. Otherwise I'm looking at $2450 from CCW for these widths and approximate offsets.
Definitely welcome the thoughts & experiences. BTW, I'm running a fairly healthy turbo setup for SM2 autocross (torque peak = 4700 RPM), which is why I'm looking for this setup. 17s cost less than 18s, which is the reason I'm leaning toward 17s.
Thanks,
Stanford

i had thought about that actually. Definilty would be a sweet sleeper look to while your at it!
BTW if you run 5mm spacers all the way around then you can run the rears on the front w/o needing to modify the center bore.

so i just posted something about something similar to this before.
with that difference going wider by .5in so there is going to be a total of what...12.2+30mm stock difference you are going to ahve a car that really likes to plow. ap2's are notorious for not oversteering natrually. but as an autocrosser im sure you know this.
it seems cool but im wondering if its really worth it to just have a stock looking wheel that is wider...yah its unique but wouldnt you be better off with a lighter wheel that could just be purchased no custom work needed?
