500whp+ Tires
Guys I am looking for a new set of tire for my 2008 s2000. I have 520whp and need something to help hold the power. I am looking at a 255/45/R17, 265/40/R17, 275/40/R17.
Here are a few of what I was thinking. Toyo Proxes R888 Rear-275/40/R17 Front-225/45/R17 Toyo Proxes RA1 Rear-275/40/R17 Front-235/40/R17 Toyo Proxes TQ Rear-275/40/R17 Front-? Direzza Z1 Star Specs Rear- 265/40/17 Front-235/40/17 For the drag strip unless some of the above will work just fine. Hoosier Drag Radial Rear-275/40/R17 Front-? |
The 275/40/17 R888s will work well when heated in the dry and I'm not sure if they make the RA1 anymore (I thought the R888 replaced it). The Star Specs will last longer though and probably out perform in the wet.

Im not to worried about the wet traction. Mostly dry. Well all these tires be good for the power level? I also plan to upgrade and be making ~600whp.

anyone else?

You've basically listed 3 semi-street-legal competition tires and one Extreme performance tire. For street driving, I would hands down take the Star Specs. The others will probably wear out in no time flat and have other ungainly compromises you're not going to want to deal with for the road.

What size wheels are you putting these tires on?
Don't forget the NT05's in 275/40/17. I had the 235/265 starspecs on 9" wheel(all around). I would suggest going with a 245/40 on the front if you decide to go with a 265/40 on the rear. Or 255/40 on the front if u decide to go with a 275/40 NT05 on the rear. |
I agree with deepblue. If they are used only for the track or drag strip those other tires will be fine. If it is street driven I like the Extreme performance tires like the Star Spek and RE11.
If I can help with the tires let me know. |
