Air compressor blows my fuse!
I got a compressor so I can fill up tires @ auto-x events. It's a 12v that plugs into accessory unit. Problem is that my 10 amp accessory fuse keeps blowing
Anyone else have this problem? the compressor work for the first tire but then won't restart for second tire because fuse is blown. Is there any way to rig the part that plugs into socket so that I can attatch it directly to battery somewhere? Any suggestions would be very welcome as I want to keep using this compressor at races. Thanks

Use a 15/20A fuse instead? The point of a fuse is to burn out in case of a short, not to keep you from using your accessories.
I am on my way to the autoparts store and buy a bunch of 30 amp fuses and replace all of the ones in the car !!
To the OP:
If you are blowing the fuse, is because the compressor is drawing more than the 10Amps that fuse is rated for. Either find another circuit with a higher amp rating or plug it straight to the battery.
As the tire fills up the little motor in the compressor has to work harder and therefore draws more current out of the system, thats why it works at first and then eventually blows the fuse.

I plug my compressor directly to the battery. I recommend you rig yours up with alligator clips and do the same.
I'm a real paranoid newbie when it comes to anything involving electricity

If you look at your cigarette adapter it'll have 2 metal contacts. The one at the very tip (pointy end) is the positive. The metal contacts on the side are the negative.
I suggest you break the plastic adapter housing so you'll be certain which wire goes where. Hook up those wire to alligator clips (buy them from any electronic store)

^^^Thanks, again. I'll try it tonight. So after I do this I just ground one alligator clip and connect other to positive charge on battery, right? I'll post again once I've tried this
