Default ANOTHER fitment question

ok well now i know im definately getting flamed, 1 for starting another of these question threads, and 2 for wanting rotas.....anyway i was looking at some red rota gt3's 16x7 with a +40 offset. now i had looked at the fitment guide and i notice this offset is too small for the front, and i also read something else about certain rotas not being able to clear the caliper. so i was wondering if wheel spacers or anything else will help me out with this because i really like these wheels and i want to do anything i can for these to fit. also i know staggering is better and im at least going to stagger the tires so its ok. and plus this is my daily and i never push it to the edge or even close. so if someone could please help me with this i would really appreciate it. and please keep the flaming to a minimum because ive already seen it all on other rota threads. thanx for everyones help.

and also if i COULD actually get these to fit what tire sizes would be my best bet. thanx again

Check the sticky at the top of this forum and do your own arithmetic to find your answer.

Spacers will not help, they will only make it worse
(ie +40 plus a 10mm spacer = +30 offset = bad for s2k)

Spending the money to make these fit like wider fenders would just defeat the purpose of buying cheap rims. Atleast choose cheap rims that fit with a stagger. Or spend the money on a decent set of rims. Just my opinion.

well since the rims are a +40 offset and it says on the fitment guide a MINIMUM of +43, will 3mm really make that much of a difference? i mean like i said this is no track car or anything and i have hardly ever pushed this car to its limits.

3mm= ...

Yes 3mm does make a difference. The wheel fitment guide is the min you can go without modification to stock settings. You may be able to fit 205 and 225 tires if you add negative camber to the front (lowering may also be an issue here). Those tires are not nearly as wide as stock and will likely kill the handling of your car. I know you said you don't do any hard driving, but I don't think any of us would have bought this car if we didn't want to open it up atleast now and then. You will hurt both lateral and straight line performance with the smaller tires and trying to fit staggered tires on same size rims, but if that truely doesn't mean anything to you go ahead and try it.

I can't answer your question as far as if the rim will fit over the caliper or not. That may be a whole other issue.

No, they are not. The AP1 OEM rear tires are actually closer to a 245 tire in width of contact patch. The AP2 don't use the AP1's SO2 tires, so they were equipped with 245 tires.
If you had checked the stickies up above, you would have not only seen the thread that tells you all about how to determine if a particular rim and tire will fit, but you would have seen the thread about the oddball nature of the OEM SO2 rear tire.

^^ yes i saw that...TECHNICALLY the tires are 245 BUT they say 225. also right now i have 225 yoko es100's on the rear anyway so i wouldnt be downgrading if i got these on these gt3's. also if you read my first post notice how i say I CHECKED THE FITMENT GUIDE. i already saw that it says +43 min but i was wondering if anyone knew how to fit these on there anyway. now if i get these rims and lower my car on espelirs, then get a 205 tire in the front and a 225 tire in the rear what would be the problem with that? rubbing?

they should fit with a uk spec alignment. the extra degree of camber should get you that 3mm.

put it this way.. .the rgII fitment in 17x7.5 +45 pushes the wheel out ~16mm. people usually run 225's on that wheel. granted they most likely need a little extra camber, and possibly push in the fender tabs.. but thats nothing major, and you're not runnign a 225 in front.

the ones you want, 17x7+40 push the wheel out ~15mm. with a 205 hell even a 215 it should fit.
