Azenis Rt-615
I had these on my old civic and they were great. Anyone have any opinions on running them on the s2000? I'm looking to get some 17x7.5F and 17x9R volks. Would 245/45F and 275/40R be too much tire? Also the taller tire would allow me to hold 4th gear in the 1/4 and hopfully result in a lower ET. I do a lot of spirited driving, ocassional auto x and 1/4 mile racing and I would like to have maximum contact patch and grip. Any advice or opinions. I tried to search, but all these old threads came up and I couldn't find the answers I was looking for.

I am running these on my wife's Civic and love them. I ordered some Volks and will be running them on my S2000 as well. Hands-down the best max performance (DOT-approved) tire you can buy.

Fronts are way too wide.. rears should be doable.

245/275 are a popular size for auto-x, and have been known to work depending on the tire (most notably V710s). The RT-615s actually run wider than advertised. From what I have heard, a 225 is more like a 245 (as compared to other tires).

I can't say if those sizes will work, but I'm running the RT615's in 225/45-17 and 255/40-17 on OEM wheels. For me that's plenty of tire, much more and I'd never get it sideways in the dry. I absolutely love these tires. More predictable and a little more grip in warm weather than the Michelin Pilots I was running on my Integra before I got this car. In cold though, these are total crap. In sub-freezing weather on dry pavement, lateral grip is like driving on ice. Don't say you haven't been warned!

As you stated, the RT-615s are not meant for cold weather, nor are they meant for rain either. Falken did make some wet weather improvements on the RT-615s (as compared to the 215s), but they are still not good wet weather tires. I live in San Diego and cold/wet weather isn't a factor. :) |

I've actually driven these in all types of rain and I'm satisfied with their performance. Looking at the tread pattern I thought they would be downright dangerous in the wet, but I was pleasantly surprized the first time I was caught out in it. They certainly aren't for racing in rain, but sufficiently safe to get around town in, even in a downpour with standing water. Just keep both hands on the wheel just in case! Now when it's below 40 and raining... that's a different story :thumbdn: . Better call a cab or break out your ice-skating skillz. 2QYK4U: I'm sure you'll be very happy with these tires. I just wish I could drive another AP2 with S02 or S03 so I can make a comparitive judgement. Mine is the only S2000 I've ever driven. |
I've got a set of 225/45 and 255/40's in the garage waiting to get mounted on my AP2 OE's. I can't wait to drive on them, but my snows are on for now. It's 18 degrees F today. Up from -40F with the windchill last week. :banghead:
