Default best rear tires for MY04?

Anyone running anything other then stock? If so do you think they are better? I have alomst 17,000 miles on my stock ones and I need to switch them out. I am not sure what to go with. Thanks

Kumho MX's would be a good choice for a budget tire... Also, the Fuzion ZRi is excellent also!

I'd reccommend changing your fronts as well though.

money is not a concer tire wise... whats the best in performance? Do you think I really should change the frints as well... They have at least a 1/3 tred left.

I just recently was quoted $216.00 each installed for replacement OEM RE050 Bridgestone Potenzas at the Firestone/Bridgestone Service Center. I believe this is the regular price at all Firestone Centers as I phoned around. Interestingly, it was the best price I could find as well,

I decided that I'm going to go with these again, just replacing the rears. For the next set I'm going to try the Fuzions, which need to go up a size on both front and rear to have the same width as the Bridgestones. The Fuzion are made by Firestone/Bridgestone, sacrifice some performance, wear better and are 1/2 the price. It remains to be seen if the performance sacrifice is worth it.

What about going to a bigger size in the rear(and in front???). Can we put 255 on the 04 wheels. I was thinking about pilot sports when mine wear down. Are the toyo RA-1's really that good? Good info Krazik. Can any other owners confirm that they are better than the OEM RE050's. Thanks

Note RA1's is a competition tire, i.e. not meant as a street tire. Full tread, they are a great rain tire. Shaved they are a good dry roadcourse tire. When shaved they don't have enough tread for standing water, so hydroplane easily, but are still good if the road is just damp.

Any competition tire will be stickier than a street tire. It will also wear out faster.

The point is don't mix brands/models front to rear. If you get RE050 for the rear keep the fronts - If you go with another make/model on the rear get that same make /model for the front.

The Pilot Sport Cups do come in a 225/45-17 which could fit the 17x7 front rim. They also have a 255/40-17 which will fit the 17x8.5 rear.
