Default Chrome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Ive seen a lot of S2k's with the stock wheels chormed. Does any one know where I can get these wheels, or get my wheels chromed. Ive heard of places where they have chrome stock wheels for different cars, and you pay them a certain amount, they send you chrome stock wheels and you send them back your stock wheels. Like a core trade in.

Hope that makes sense!

Yeah, I saw one in Dublin that had the wheels chromed. Looked really nice!

Don't know anything about it though.

You pay a wheel shop like $500 to dip your rims in chrome.

My rims are chromed stock units. They look good and are easier to keep clean.

I bought my S2K when they fiirst came out. At the time the demand was such that you either paid a premium over MSRP or had a Dealer tack on a lot of forced options to an MSRP car. the worst scenario was MSRP + premium AND forced options.

As a forced option, we were, to put this politely, bent over to the tune of $1,200.00. The scenario was that the first S2K that arrived at the dealer had its whees removed and sent out for chroming. This car was sold with aftermarket rims. My car came in and the dealer put the chromed rims from the first car onto my car, then sent my rims out for chroming for the next hapless sucker. Essentially I paid $1200 to have my own rims chromed!

At the time I had no idea what the chroming was worth, I just knew it was not $1200.00. Once I found out, I was pretty insensed over the scam. Live and learn. We still love the car, had the notariety of having one of the first in town, and people still comment on the wheels.

So much for editorilalizing. The $500.00 price is consistent with what I have been told from several other individuals although I do not have the names of any vendors that do this work.
