Default Damaged Star Spec

Yesterday I ran over some metal, like part of of a spring and two pieces of it went into a rear tire. I'm pretty sure it's not repairable. I'm running stock wheels(AP2) 225/45 fronts and 255/40 rears. The set has about 9000 miles and the rears are close to the bars, the fronts are about at 1/2 wear. My reaction is to replace the rears with new Star Specs. I like the Star Specs but was wondering if other rears would work in this situation? I don't autox or track the car.
Thanks

After trying many tires and finally having a set of Star Specs, I don't think I'll ever go back to something else.

Don't mix and match tires. Star Specs are awesome anyways so just replace both rears with new Star Specs.

See prior threads on mixing. It's a very common topic:

Should have done that first. Mixing brands doesn't seem to be worth the potential problems. Guess I'll stick with SS's

Thanks

I would take them to americas tire and see if they can repair it before spending the money on new rears (they repair tires for free). Also I really don't think its a big deal to mix tires as long as they're in pairs of fronts or rears... especially for simply driving around but this. But this topic is very subjective and everyone has different driving abilities and levels of comfort so do what you feel good about.
