Default drag wheel setup.

Ok, I am going to buy $3800.00 3 piece modular wheel from CCW. I am going with classics for street use, but for track days I will swap just the rear with 16×7.5 stock ap1 rim with m/t 255/50/16 et drag radials. Since Dan from CCW is tailoring my wheels to my specs, which should I go with 18×10 51mm front & 18×11.5 57mm rear? Should I have CCW make my front 18" wheel narrower? Keep in mind my ccw are gonna be street and track use. If I'm spending 4 thousand dollars on rims, I am gonna try an knock to birds with one stone (ccw rims 4 track an street use) I wanna use for street show and drag. Like I stated rear classics are coming off when hitting the drag strip and replaced with stock ap1 rear rims with mickey thompson rubber will be used on track with ccw front classics 18×4.5? 18×6? 18×10? Need to know what would benefit on the 1/4 mile strip far as front tire width. Keep in mind I'm gonna be using the classics for street use also, so can be to narrow.

Sorry, that makes no sense. You would be much better off just swapping AP1 wheels on the front as well, 6.5" width with 205/55 tire. That will be lighter and less rolling resistance than a wide 18" wheel/tire. You are already going to use AP1 rear, might as well match.

What kind of power are you making? Unless you are competing for hundreths of seconds then it won't matter that much anyway.

i think if u swap out the rear swap the front too unless you are getting some 4.5 wide front wheels. if that the case the put on the 4.5 but then it wouldnt be a daily set up of a 18x4.5 front and a 18x11 rear

When you say track do you mean road courses and auto cross or do you mean drag strip as in quarter mile?

The rim and tire needs for each of those are completely different...

Go to the R&C section for better advice if you're planning on doing track days/HPDE. Maybe go to the FI forum for help with a quarter mile setup.

The thread title says drag and he asks about "1/4 mile strip"

So definitely road racing

lol, I wrote that a little weird. I just got off the phone with Dan and told him straight out I hate hellaflush bowed out hooker wheels lookin like there breaking. Dan from ccw laughed and said he understands. He said for drag mickey thompson don't design a 18inch drag tire. So he recommended 17×11rear & 18×8front. He said the tires to run on tht size for my setup would be toyo proxes r888. He swore everyone says those hook at a red light drag race, even though there a road race tire. I really prefer hoosier or M/T, but guess I can't have best of both worlds. Should I just get some pretty lookin 18s for the streets and when its time to open the beast on the 1/4 of a mile drag strip swap my ap1 16s with fresh new M/T drag radials (mickey thompson)????

Oh btw, I'm pushing 600+hp full blown stage2 twin scroll sidewinder machine. No disrespect to hellaflush, I just don't wanna put a stance rim on a mean beast machine. Imo thats like putting a skirt on Mike Tyson.. just won't kiok right. Any advice of wheel setup on street would be gladly appreciated. Must be ccw classics legal on road street use.

That is what I would do. I would definitely NOT do 18 front/17 rear, that would look silly on the street. If you must do 17's rear then get 17's front to match.

If you want max tire size with a basic fender roll and normal camber, something like a 9.5" front +55 and 11" rear +65 would allow you to run up to 255 front tires and 295 rear. I am running a very similar setup with 245 front and 285 rear.

M/Ts drag radials on stock Ap1 rims for track days will work. It's the go-to setup for these cars

Thanks for the advice guys. Oh btw, you stated 18s front &17rear classics will look weird, but why did the owner from CCW John purner recommend me 18front 17rear? Why do 1200hp Toyota Supra run ccw classics 17×11rear &18s up front? Dan told me the 18s and 17s have same diameter face. The only difference is the larger barrels. He said you really can't twll the difference. He said if you wanna a meaty tire and not a rubber band tire 17s rear 18front.
