Has anybody tried these yet? Supposedly the new tread compound is better and doesn't drop traction as much as it heats up.

I still can't believe after not releasing anything in the extreme performance summer tire category in years that they couldn't even change up the tread design at all. It's still a good design for dry but they were always terrible tires in the rain.

if you look carefully they did slightly change the pattern. It's subtle but there is a difference.

It does ok in the rain as long as you don't find standing water.

I think they blew it. The 615 was great for its day, and still better than a lot of tires that people run. But, given that the street tires are so good now, and the race tires are amazing, they don't really have a chance.

At least not at the current price. At discount tire direct they are $171 for 215/45/17. In the same size, direzzas are $121, AD08's are $166, RE11's are $177, RS3's (225) are $135, and XS are $116.
