Default Good or garbage tires?

These tires came with my used S2000 when I purchased it just this year. I've gotten comments from people like "bro, are those winter tires" lol.

Are these tires any good? I mean, are they an all season tire that is not ideal for the s2000? They howl like a banshee when I take a corner aggressively and don't seem to have very much grip when driven aggressively.

Any feedback on these tires for S2000 use?

They are Falken brand model ZIEX ZE950

You're teasing us, right? You've been on this forum for nearly 20 years!

But, just for fun, and the photo appears to show one on a S2000 wheel, I Googed that tire. Try it and see what you come up with. It's apparently suitable designed for the 2007 Ford Expedition, a 6000 pound SUV. That's the first thing that came up, anyway.

Sidewall is marked Mud and Snow. Even Alberta has Summer (OK, that's a rumor.)

How old are these (since they came with the car). My personal limit is seven (7) years before the carcass starts to beak down especially if driven year round.

Thanks guys.

The S2000 has been my lifelong dream...and I've been trying to buy one for 20 years.

I got a mint 2002 just this year, purchased sight unseen from a dealer 2000 miles away. The ownership has been interesting.... Though the car is mint and you can eat off the engine bay, the owner has had some interesting maintenance. The oil in the engine and transmission was changed what appears every 3 months it so clean. Thought the clutch fluid and brake fluid were straight black and appears they have not been changed in 20 years.

And of course, I have the pleasure of doing the clutch, even after asking the dealer specifically on the clutch condition. So this year, I'm buying a clutch...next year tires I suppose! :-)

The tires are in very good shape, but damn...they are weird. I just figured it's odd tires choice when I received the car, but never really looked into it. I wonder how the previous owner came to select those tires...either way, I can reasonably sure this car spent less time in VTEC and more time cruising around what I suppose means the car has not been bagged.

really, for a summer only car, buy summer only tires- it will extract the maximum handling performance as Honda intended. I typically run 200-340 UTQG tires. Think RT 660, RE-71RS...now I really liked the 340 tread wear Continental extreme contact sport and even the Firestone Firehawk 500 is decent.

remember, tires are the ONLY thing between you and the road. The very best tires allow your s2000 be a godlike!

Compared to what is there now, any decent summer tire is going absolutely transform the driving experience far more than any other change you could make.

Not just grip, but steering response and feel. Just cruising around will be a wholly different experience.

Not in the Base size for the fronts: no 215/45 R17. You can change all four tires to something else: 235/45 for the front and 245/45 for the rear. That is what RRounds has. He said they do not rub but the VSA may kick in earlier than before during spirited driving/cornering.

There is a sale at Costco till the 24th for Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS summer tires that seem to be pretty similar to Michelin 4s (which I have right now but are shot) This way I can just keep the same size and have a decent summer tire to boot.

I dont look back to them since i switched to the Bridgestone Potenza Sport. (Hey, this could become some sort of "Wich engine oil" discussion... )

Here is a good Source of information: https://www.tyrereviews.com/
