GTU Question for either Jim or EvoS2000
Hey guys,
I'm running Volk GT-U's right now (18x7.5F, 18x8R). My questions is in regards to the rear tire sizes. I'm currently running 235/40/18, but it's too tail happy for the track. Can I run 255/35/18 on an 18x8 rim safely? I heard that the maximum safe tire width for an 8" wheel is 245, but that tire size (245/35/18) isn't the easiest to come by. BTW, by "safe" I mean under track conditions. I'd hate to have the bead break during hard cornering. TIA -sam |
Have you thought about stock rims with race rubber for your track days? Might be an easier fix.

The 255/35R18 needs to have a 18X8.5 wheel. I would not want to do it on the track. Try the Goodyear GSD3 in the 245/35R18 on the rear with the 225/40R18 in the front.
I also like AStocks idea of the race rubber on your stock wheels. If I can help let me know. Thank you Jim 877-522-8473-364 |
