Ok, my friend in PCA told me a month ago that somebody is testing these Michilin R-Compound tires. According to the test, it is as sticky as Hoosier, unlike Hoosier, the Pilot Sport will last twice as long.

Then comes USGP at Indy, I visited Michilin Truck. Hey, they have a piece of paper with Pilot Sports Super Cup specs on them. It didn't specify as tread wear index. But, I chat with the guy who is on site. He is familiar with the tire. They are exclusively for Porsche this year. But, next year, they are going to up the production for other sizes.

One more note, I told him that I have Yoko A032R on my car. Coincidently, he used to work for Yokohama and was on the dev-team for A032R. With his experience, he says the Michilin will defintely stick better than A032R and it will last 10K miles on the street.

Ok, 10K mile on the street maybe a little too much, but hey anything that sticks better than my Yoko and I can drive them on the street is good enough for me.

Just wondering, have anyone seen these tires in person and knows or heard how they perform on the track?

Since these are DOT tires, I wonder will C&D's 1 Lap allow these tires on the cars.

We have the tires in stock and we are the sole distribution for these tires. They can only be sold to PCA members currently. I don't know about anything for next year. I can tell you they are much stickier than the A032R.

I am a PCA member. But, they don't have it in S2000 sizes. Unless I am mistaken. It sounds like they are awesome tires.

Jim, I think all the R-Compound tires are stickier than A032R. also, would you please let us the the size availability and treat wear index? or better yet, how about a website with this info?

Thanks again for replying so soon.

The Perelli PZero's on the Boxster S gripped great, but they're too pricey for a 6000mi tire. Hence the too-slick Kumho Ecsta's. How much are these Michelins?

Jim@tirerack 10-08-2001 08:19 AM

Because the tires are only available to PCA members the sizes are only avaialable in Porsche OE sizes. Sorry

That's what I meant - what are the prices for a Boxster S with the 17" wheels? I'm a PCA member. Will be at the Club Race at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, too.

The 205/50R17 is 223.00 and the 255/40R17 is 247.00.
Let me know if I can help.
Thank you
