Interested in purchasing 17" SSR GT1 Rimz for my S. Now...tirerack.com tells me I have two choices:

Front Rear
1. 17x7 17x8

or

2. 17x7.5 17x8

Are these sizes correct? Is there another size that will fit my S? My S runs on stock suspension setup. Please include the tire size that will fit with your recommened rim size.

As long as the offsets are the same or similar, I'd go with the wider wheel, it will afford you more options, like going 225 in the front...although this could result in more oversteer.....not always a bad thing, if you're careful....

Maybe Jim from tirerack can chime in?

I think 205 (or 225) on a 7.5 inch rim is better than a 225 on a 7 inch rim. But is a 205 on 7.5 inch better than 205 on a 7 inch? generally, a wider rim will get you a wider patch on the ground, up to a point. So, personally I'd err on the wider side.....but you might wait til others post their opinions.....

make sure you get the correct rear tire size: which I believe is 245/45/17 (the stock 225's are as wide as a 245).... there is a topic in the Wheel and Tire forum that addresses this......

As long as you stay with a 45% aspect ratio (245/45/17) you'd be fine with a 7.5-inch width wheel but I'd recommend wider just to allow you more options to stagger the rear/front. However, bear in mind the diameter of a 245/45/17 is nearly one-inch larger than OEM. To maintain the OEM-specs on diameter, you'd need a 245/40/17 tire in which case, an 8-inch width wheel is the minimum size recommended for fit. I posted some links in an earlier thread that will help you with your line of questioning with regards to wheel widths and appropriate tires.
