Default Help - Volk LE37T

I need some help with my 18 inch volk LE37T's. I took them off for 6 months for the winter period. I just ordered new tires for them (Bridgestone Potenza's 255/45/18 rear 225/40/18 front) and im having trouble with some rubbing issues. I took it to a mechanic today because there was another issue going on with the front right wheel (it turned out just to be a loose valve cover). However, the back wheels still rub a bit. The mechanic said the wheels were just too big for the car and to sell them. I didn't like his solution for the problem but he made a valid point. If i take a hard turn or hit a pot hole the wheels could lock up or my tire could blow. I had these wheels on my car for three months before i took them off and they were just perfect. I got into a small accident over the winter time which messed up various things with my suspension but everything was repaired. (I don't know if that has any relivance to the situation). My old kuhmo tires were a bit of a lower profile tire which is why maybe they didn't rub? Anyways I have pictures of my new tires and wheels. Another thing is on the left side i can fit two fingers in the space between the tire and fender well. However, on the right said i can just barely fit two fingers in between the gap and it seems the right side rubs a lot more then the left side. If anyone has any recommendations to fix this problem that would be great. I am also considering a wide body conversion (If they make one for the rear quarter panel) if that may fix my problem since the bigger offset of the wheel.

Thanks~Allen

I think the rear tire size you want is 255/35/18 not a 45 profile. I'm having mine mounted this weekend with 255/35/18 tires and I'll tell you if they rub (which they shouldn't)

Maybe you are right, the only reason i went with 255/45/18 was because that is what the original kuhmo tires specs that were on there and I had no issues. Keep me posted.

Will do.

Just to do some math.

255/35 will give you a side wall of 89mm

255/45 will give you a side wall of 115mm

Thats 26mm bigger which is pretty big considering it. (this is all provided I did the math right )

btw, it doesn;t look like it but are you lowered by any chance?

your problem is definitely the 255/45.

255/35 is already pushing it without rolled fenders. 245/35 is a safer size.

Wow... those tires are WAY too big for those wheels!!

Hope you can get rid of them quickly and get some properly sized ones on with as little hassle as possible. For more info, head to the Wheel and Tire forum

Hah thanks! I didn't see the wheels and tires section until after I posted this (I guess I should have started this thread there) My exact wheel sizes are Front (18 x 7.5 +48) Rear (18 x 8.5 +50). I might want to lower my car about an inch. Should I go with the 255/35/18 or be safe and go with the 245/35/18?

Thanks ~Allen

the rear tires looks like a 4x4. Take it out asap, looks terrible. Get some 255/35/18, lower your car and use some 1.5-2.5" camber and you'll be set.
