Default help with with wheels and tires please

OK, first thanks in advance. I don't know where I'd be without this forum. S2Ki rules.

So I have my stock rims with snow tires. I am going to buy all new rims + new tires..

I'd apreciate any advice re. wheels (firstly) and tires (secondly).

I fell in love with the Volks CE28s for their looks and light weight.

17x7.5 +50 (13.8 lbs)
17x9 +63 (14.8 lbs)
Price ~$1900

I just looked at tirereak and see:

O.Z. Superleggera (cast)

17x7 +45 (15.9 lbs)
17x8 +48 (17.6 lbs)
price ~$800

Kosei K1 TS (cast)

17x7 +50 (13.7 lbs)
17x8 +45 (15.4 lbs)
price ~$900

What is your question exactly? All the wheels you showed will fit. The volks are the widest and thus will allow the widest tires for the most grip.

I believe the Volks are better wheels but the price is another $1000.

The tirerack wheels are 7" front and 8" rear. While the Volks are 7.5" and 9".

Will all three fit and work esentially the same?

Does one size/offset work better?

What's the best tire size with these wheels?

BTW my car has not been lowered at all and it's a 2003 MY

Will I be able to feel much of a difference with the slightly wider Volks wheels?

Aside from looks, are the Volks worth more than 2x the cost?

Also tirerack says 205/50 and 225/45 for (17x7 and 17x8 wheels) will they accept wider rubber?

Yeah, all three will fit, but the Volks have nearly ideal offsets while the others are slightly less so. They are also wider. This would allow you to run wider tires on the Volks with less danger of rubbing, especially if you want to lower it.

For the Volks you could easily run a 225 or 235 front and up to 265 rear I think.

With the others you'd probably be best to stick with OEM AP2 tire sizes of 215 and 245.

If you have the means, I would get the Volks. They are wider, the offsets are better, and they are higher quality. Also, you said you fell in love with the Volks. If you can afford them and DON'T get them you'll be kicking yourself later. I know I would.

Cheers.

thanks, I guess I'm talking myself into the volks. Want to see if they are worth the $.

I was thinking more along the lines of 225 front and 255 rear. I don't want them to look much wider than stock 17s

Any other thoughts?
