Default I Need Some (Outside) Insight/Perspective

Hi folks,

I’m posting this up for some friendly advice. Honest, thought-out opinions are much appreciated. In the last 2 weeks, I went on a spending spree and purchased 2 sets of wheels. BBS LM (17x8 & 17x9 + 35 – without tires) and Enkei RPF1 (17x9+45 with tires). I also will be sending $$ today for a set of Swift Spec Rs.

Now that I have these wheels (and getting the springs in), I’m starting to get that feeling of regret. I don’t need both sets of wheels. I bought them because I have always liked RPF1s (and have owned/had a set on my Integra, which I later sold for a steal) and I have always wanted a set of BBS LMs. After I bought the RPF1s, the LMs came up for sale a day after, which I then purchased.

I am debating the following:

1. Sell a set of wheels. If so, which one?
2. Sell both sets of wheels. Use the money to get a set of AP2 wheels (either v2 or v3(crs)).
3. Sell everything and remain stock.
4. Keep both sets of wheels because I will get bored over time and the change will be nice.

I know this comes down to personal preference, but perhaps someone can shed some outside light that will help me make my decision. Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Currently my car (2002 BB) is completely stock.

Thank you in advance.

Sell BBS, +35 isn't a good s2k offset

Sell BBS, don't buy Swift springs and buy a decent set of coilovers instead. Run RFP1 with 255 square.

Thanks for the replies guys. RPF1s have 245/40 all around with a lot of meat so if I decide to keep them, I will burn the tires before replacing. BBS' will need tires.

The reason I went with Swifts is because I don't track the car. Also, it doesn't get driven much. Winter is officially here (first snow fall last night/today) so the car will be sitting until Spring after I perform one last full detail.

I wanted to retain the stock-ish ride with a little more 'umph' and a little lower stance. Researching, the Swifts were the way to go that meets my needs. I can't justify spending the $$ on coilovers since I don't track the car.

Since I have to roll fenders anyway I figured that perhaps I could run the LMs. Is there a reason why folks are suggesting I sell the LMs and keep the RPF1s? Is it the offset?

Partly. The offsets aren't that difficult to fit though I am just not a fan of the mesh wheels. They would need more camber to fit.

As for not needing coilovers I just always look at springs as a waste of money because you will end up going with coilovers because it may ride better at first the stock shocks will degrade faster with just the springs. I will never waste the money on springs again. There are coilovers that retain a close to stock ride and don't cost that much. Buddy club, Bilstein, KW v2's, fortune auto, etc all ride well and will last longer plus you can control exactly how the car sits. The choice is yours but you have spent a lot of money on 2 sets of wheels which you can only use one set at a time. You could sell one set and not buy the springs and have plenty of money for the coilovers. Install for coilovers is much easier as well.

Yeah i'm with manga, considering you essentially wasted money on a second set of wheels which you could have used that money for coilovers. Sell the LM's and dont bother with the springs, put that money toward some good coilovers and you will enjoy the car more, not to mention it will out perform the lowering springs on stock shocks, even if you dont track the car. It will ride safer/more confidence inspiring over the long run.

That makes a lot of sense guys. I appreciate the insight. I actually have a spare set of AP1 dampers which I was planning on using with the Swifts. How would the Swifts perform if they were mated to Koni Yellows? If I was to mate them to the Koni Yellows, wouldn't they essentially be "coilovers"?

What is the going rate for BBS LMS at the moment anyhow? I got a real good deal on them which is mainly why I fought myself to buy them after buying the RPF1s.

LM Specs are 17x8 and 17x9 + 35.

Is there a reason/preference why the RPF1s over the LMs? Weight? Non-staggered? Let's forget the fact that they're mesh for now.

The LM's are likely heavier but probably stronger. Mainly the RPF's will be easier to fit and require less camber. If you like the BBS's then keep those and the the RPF's. The other benefit is the RPF's have tires so you won't have to buy tires for the BBS. Look at each one next to or on your car and whichever you truely love more keep those and sell the others.

As for the koni's yes those would be better with the swift springs however you wont have the height adjustment and I feel like you would be dangerously close to the price of a full coilover knowing the price of those shocks and the swift springs. Plus you still have to tear apart the OEM and reuse the hats in that setup. Swift makes great springs just speaking from experience doing springs on stock shocks is just a waste of money step between oem and full coilovers. I hate buying things twice.

I would also sell the LM's. It's just personal preference but I don't like that style wheel in 17" on the S2000 and they are very heavy. I would think you could get around $1,500 for them. If they were better specs (9 +42, 10" +50) then I would be more inclined to keep them. RPF1 is very common but they just look so at home on a S2000.

If you have stock dampers in good condition, I would just use those.

Guys, thank you all for the response. I think I've decided what I will be doing. I'll probably be getting rid of the LMs.

As for the suspension, I believe I am getting a good deal on the Swifts. I'm trying to the best of my ability to justify spending the $$ on coilovers but I can't. I won't be tracking the car and even if I do, I won't even push the suspension to its capabilities. Additionally, there are only 2 seasons in MN/WI - Winter and Construction. Unlike my integra, I do not want to be super low with the S2000. Just a tad lower from stock so although the height adjustability is convenient (and there), I'm not sure I will be utilizing that option either.

Either way, I will definetly keep this thread updated with whatever route I decide to take. The responses are much appreciated!
