Default Ideal wheel/tire size?

I read the sticky above and it made me wonder a couple things. I noticed ap1 and ap2 s2000s handle a bit different. Some pref the ap1 feel and some pref the ap2. Oem ap1 wheels are 16x6.5 in the front and 16x7.5 in the rear while ap2 has 17x7.0 and 17x8.5 in the rear...

-when going aftermarket on an ap1 is it best to stick with the 1 inch stagger because that is oem but go bigger? Ex 17x8 and 17x9

or is it better to go with the ap2 1.5 stagger on an ap1 and do say a 17x7.5 and a 17x9 rear?

-what is the best wheel size for daily spirited driving with once in a while track use in mind?

-usually there is a point where the width of the wheel having an affordable good tire and then at a certain size sometimes it almost doubles the tire price...

Wheels are an expression of the owner. There is no ideal setup for everyone. As far as wheel fitment, the ap1 and ap2 are the same. Wheels that fit on an ap1 will also fit on an ap2 or vise versa. 16’s don’t have a good selection of tires available. 17’s are what most wheels that are specifically made for the s2000 come in. I would say that volk and ssr have done their home work. Meaning that the 7.5" and 9" or 8" and 9" or 8" and 9.5" are great combos.

Coilovers or lowering springs, sway bars, and or x-brace, will help the car feel good if you are planning on going with wider tires in the front. (wider than 225)

I have read that going wider than 255 in the back when your s2000 is NA is overkill.

When I got my wheels these factors were what helped me decide.
What they look like.
What offset they came in.
How much they cost.
How much they weigh.
What size they are.
Staggered or non.

I decided that I didn't want to do any fender mods. I then decided to get inexpensive wheels, as my wife drives the car also. I wanted 18’s cause I feel that look the best. I also wanted to get a staggered set of wheels because I have only owned front drive before. Weight was the last deciding factor, and for me since I don’t track my car, wasn’t a huge deal. The wheels I chose based on all the other factors are light weight enough for me. I spent twice as much on my tires as I did my wheels though.

I am interested in what others might think also.

When I mean ideal I am talking about width, I can imagine the car would feel different with a 9.5 out back, or even a big difference between font width and rear.

I don't want rubbing and I don't want to roll my fenders, it's not a question of what wheel, but what wheel size. For example, if I opted to have a 9 inch in the rear would I be able to just put them on without issue?

Is 9 inches out back overkill for what I'm using it for?

Is wider that much better, what width would you run up front if you had a certain width in the rear?

What difference will I notice in handling and overall feel with a certain width etc?

wheel size is not as big of a deal as offset. Offset will determine if a wheel will fit without fender modification. 9 inch is fine for the back. some guys run 17x9 all around. I am not into the non-staggered setups, but they have their place. Tires will make a bigger difference than the size of your wheels. Read the stikie, it really helped me.

So considering offset it'd depend on the wheel?

If I was running a 9 inch out back should I run a 7.5 up front?

What offset would allow me to do that and what tire size would I be looking at?

I'd be doing an eibach prokit which is a one inch drop
