Need Tire Options!
 

So as the title says. I am dropped currently and running 18x9.5 +50 all around (245/40/18 in front and 255/35/18 rears) with no issues. I want to go a bit more aggresive.

So I was thinking of getting 235 or 225 /40/18 fronts and 235 or 245/35/18 rears on the new ones...


Thoughts?

My thoughts:
1. Stick with +50 offset. Less worries and you can run wider tires without rubbing.

2. 245/35-18 up front would be a better fit up front, 245/40-18 are nearly an inch taller than stock, WRONG SIZE.

If you go 245/255, they should both be 35 aspect ratio.
Even 235's would be a better fit in 35 aspect ratio, but there's not a whole lotta selection in 235/35-18.
225/40-18 would be OK up front.

Or, just put a 5-10mm spacer all around and run 245/35 x4.

Otherwise, agree with ZDan. 245/40/18 is SO tall up front :eek:

The thing is I have 245/40 up front currently and I love the way it looks... Its beefy looking and not stretched. However I would not mind running stretched tires on the new ones.

245/40 on a +50 is equalant to about 225-235/40 on a +35 offest no?

the fronts Im not really worried about. As for the rears, I want to go as wide as possible without any problems.

You *like* having the fronts taller than the rears, by 0.7"? Put it this way, you now have ~3.35" visible sidewall height up front, and ~3" visible sidewall height in back. Bigger-diameter/beefier-looking fronts with smaller-diameter/less-beefy-looking rears = wrong, lookswise and functionally!

Stretched tires on too-low-offset lip-sticking-out wheels FTL, IMO...

No, 245 width on +50 is equivalent to 215 width on +35 as far as the outer tire sidewall is concerned. Move the centerline of the wheel outboard by 15mm, and you reduce the tire width you can run without rubbing by double that, 30mm. Lower offsets + skinnier tires = WTF :confused:

If you want to go as wide as possible, you want to keep +50 offset, which will allow 20-30mm wider tires vs. +35 offset (slightly less than 30mm wider due to the wider size being a bit taller as well for the same aspect ratio, which would be the same /35 for typical rear widths).

I'm just over the line in Pawtucket, near the Hope St./East Ave. end of Blackstone Blvd, soon to be moving to ATL, though. I'm usually up for a beer or three...

so what tire sizes would you suggest up front and rear without issues?

If you want "more aggressive", you might go 255/35-18 all around. If a taller 245/40-18 isn't rubbing up front, a shorter but wider 255/35 is probably going to clear, too.

Maybe 255/35-18 fronts with 265/35-18 rears? No guarantees you wouldn't start to get rubbing in back though, with 10mm wider and also taller rears...

What kinda tires are you considering?

I would say the 245/35R18 and 255/35R18 rear would be the way that I would go. The 245/40R18 with the .7" difference can throw off the anti lock brakes.

Now just one more...for the rears, with the works, will a 245 45 setup fit or do you think I should get a 255 40 for a beefier look. Obviously the 265s are wider but froma side angle, the thicker side walls look beefier no?
