New Tires Slippery...Alignment Question?
hi guys. last week I got new tires put on. I got the hankook evo v12 in 255/40/17. In the front I have the same in 225/45/17. Anyways, I had the star spec in the back before going with the hankook. It lasted 34k on the star spec which is great. The tire wear on the rear was pretty even all the way across. I got the euro/uk alignment a few years ago. It drive straight and without any issue. The front would last longer however the tread would look good on the middle and outside but the inside would wear out.
Anyways, onto the issue. Since putting on the tires, I have put over 500 miles on them since last week (a lot of driving over the weekend). At first it was slippery, having the feeling like its floating side to side sometimes. On the curve, it would be stable but taking a hard corner, my VSA light would turn on. With the slippery feeling, I don't feel comfortable or confident.
So how long does it take for the slippery feeling to wear off? A few more miles? should I heat cycle it, do a few launches? I hope it gets better!!!
Could it be an alignment?
any suggestion. Thank you

Had the same feeling when I mounted my star specs wrong. These are directional tires, first check the obvious and make sure they are rotating in the proper direction.
Did you get an alignment done, or at least checked, when you had these tires mounted?

no i didn't get an alignment done when the tires got mounted. This is the 2nd set of rear tires on the same alignment and both times the wear on the tires were even and felt very planted. I am planning on getting an alignment check just to check and make sure
Just don't want a bad alignment done that would end up screwing things up.
I guess I'm a person that don't fix it until its broken type.
i will check on the directional on the tires. It should be rotating counter-clockwise or clockwise?

I just checked the direction.
Front driver side = rotating counter-clockwise
Driver rear side = rotating counter-clockwise
Front passenger side = rotating clockwise
Rear passenger side = rotating clockwise
can you tell me if that is correct

Yeah...540 miles later they should be gripping optimally. My star specs were good to go after 200 miles or so.
Not really...pics would help, but your tires should have arrows on them showing the direction of needed rotation.

I believe the direction of the tires are correct.
The driver side are rotating counter-clockwise which would be indicate the tires rotating forward.
The passenger side are rotating clockwise which is a forward rotation.
would that be a correct assumption?
could someone go out and check there tires and let me know what direction their tires are rotating?

i think its just the nature of this tire. i have the v12's also and i dont like them. they have a soft sidewall.
i ended up running 38 psi to stiffen up the sidewall a bit. feels better than 34psi but i still dont like them.
as for the rotation...it has the arrow right on the side telling what way they should go.
