Nitrogen in the tires?
Hello all,
A friend was telling me that filling our tires with nitrogen instead of air improves performance a lot by keeping the tire pressure constant regardless of temperature changes.
Is this right? Is the constant pressure the only benefit?

That is not true. Any gas (whether pure nitrogen, or a mixture of gases like air) will expand with increasing temperatures. When confined in a closed space (like a tire) the pressure will increase.
pressure = n [gas molecules] x r [constant] x temperature/volume

So you are saying that your tires are made of a perfect insulator? And you are saying that the gas in your tires does not heat up when driving? If so, I can see further elucidation will be wasted effort.
