Thumbs up Offsets sizes etc HELP!

Alright, Im in the middle of buying my wheels (rota boosts or work xd9) and am trying to pick out tires and tire sizes. Ive talked to subydude.com for the rotas (anyone have a better place in mind?) and a local member for the Work XD9 in bronze.

Im looking for a reliable tire that i could get some good tread life out of. I also dont know what size to get 205 215 225 245 255 etc, none of that makes sense to me. Im never going to race or track my car, its a commuter to me.

are these offsets ok? i have a friend telling me to not go that high in offsets?

Heres the stats on the Works
Work XD9 Bronze wheels
Lug pattern - 5x114.3
Front - 17x7.5 ET +50
Rear - 17x8.5 ET +42

Tires -
Sumitomo HTRZIII
Front tire size - 215/45/17
Rear tire size - 245/40/17

subydude.com didnt tell me much about the rota boost wheels other than staggered setup 17x7.5F and 17x8R"

any and all help is appreciated.

I'd go with the XD9. Those offsets are fine and the tire sizes are OEM, so no issue there.
